Take to the water with the SR 5550 resin

This is a sporty keelboat. The boat is built upside down on a mold composed of fir couples, using 18 mm / 35 mm section slats, in red cedar, an extremely light wood ( d = 0.35 ).

When the planking is finished, the hull is laminated externally (in fiberglass Sergé 300 g/m² and epoxy resin SR5550 ). The hull is then turned over, the mold disassembled and the hull laminated internally in the same manner.

The advantage of this method is that the wood does not work, the boat can stay one year in a shed with a very hot summer and a very wet winter, no cracks will appear.

The hull is painted with a bi-component polyurethane paint that requires very little maintenance.

The boat is four years old and has not been repainted yet.
