Clear Resin Comparison

Whatever type of clear resin you choose, it always consists of two components: the resin and the hardener. By following a precise mixing ratio, these two components must be blended to obtain a homogeneous product ready for use. However, choosing your clear epoxy resin should not be left to chance. Here is what you need to know about the different products available.

Clear Epoxy Resin

As its name suggests, this type of clear resin is best suited for artistic applications. It can be used for jewelry making or object customization. This resin also has the advantage of being non-toxic and safe for food contact. VOC-free (Volatile Organic Compounds), it emits no fumes, making it easy and safe to handle. Completely transparent, epoxy resin is also self-leveling and provides a very glossy finish. Finally, it is UV-resistant and protected against yellowing.

Multipurpose Clear Epoxy Resin

Multipurpose clear epoxy resin is a versatile resin that can be used in many fields. Suitable for artistic creations, it can also be used for modeling, fiberglass repairs, technical fabric impregnation, protective external coatings, and marine work. Its low viscosity allows for easier application, as surface air bubbles after curing are less likely to appear. Offering a glossy and perfectly transparent finish, this type of resin is also fully moisture-resistant, making it even more versatile. If you wish to add color, note that it is compatible with all epoxy colorants, whether in powder or paste form.

Clear Epoxy Resin – Water Effect

Like the multipurpose clear resin, this water-effect epoxy resin is characterized by low viscosity, making it easier to handle and reducing surface air bubbles. As its name suggests, this resin provides a fully transparent “water-effect” finish, but that’s not all. It also stands out for its excellent chemical and mechanical resistance, high impregnation and consolidation capacity for technical fabrics (carbon fiber, Kevlar, etc.), and very glossy surface. This product is also self-leveling. It is used for decorative objects, technical fabric impregnation, fiberglass repairs, as well as marine maintenance and renovation solutions.

Good to Know: To choose the right clear resin, you must consider its characteristics, its curing temperature (not all resins cure at the same rate), and its compatibility with colorants.
