Aramid fabrics and epoxy resin

Aramid fabrics used with epoxy resin allow the production of very high-strength composites known for their lightweight properties and excellent impact resistance. Recognizable by their yellow fibers, aramid reinforcements offer outstanding thermal performance and strong fire resistance. When impregnated with epoxy resin, they form durable structures suitable for demanding technical applications.

Mechanical and thermal performance

Aramid/epoxy composites provide exceptional tensile and fracture resistance, exceeding many synthetic fibers. Aramid does not melt under heat and retains its mechanical properties at elevated temperatures. Its high energy absorption capacity makes it an ideal material for components exposed to impacts and dynamic loads.

Applications and handling considerations

Aramid fabrics with epoxy resin are widely used in aerospace, motorsport, marine construction, and protective equipment. Sensitive to UV exposure and moisture, and less efficient in compression, they are often used alone or combined with other fibers in hybrid reinforcements. Their use enhances safety and durability in advanced composite structures.
