Do Sicomin’s bio-based products really have a reduced impact on the environment?
Yes, in general, using Sicomin bio-based resin helps reduce CO₂ emissions by 10 to 20% compared to a petroleum-based equivalent. The synthesis of a bio-based resin is made possible in part thanks to the Epicerol® synthesis process, which allows the production of a bio-based raw material identical to the one historically derived from propene (itself derived from petroleum).
To obtain the same final product, this process makes it possible to reduce CO₂ emissions by 20 to 60% and to divide the amount of water required by 20 to 40 times. You can find the eco-profile of our resin here.
